According to the calendar spring is here, but looking outside it's still winter in northwestern Ontario. With opening day about 5 weeks away, the ice will just have gone out. This 'late ice out' scenario always results in incredible walleye fishing! Some May and early June spots are available so give us a call to set up a trip. Ask about a guided trip with Troy, Dick or Ben for an incredible experience in one of our guide boats. For guests heading to our Raggedwood Outpost this summer, you'll be happy to know we've had satellite internet installed over the winter. Enjoy all the perks of WiFi while still being alone in the wilderness. Also, check out the Rates page here on Winoga.com as there have been some rate increases for the 2019 season. Here's a look at some of the highlights from our guides and guests during the ice season. How about this enormous Northern Pike caught by Winoga guest Chris from Illinois. What a giant! The 2018 Season is officially over at Winoga Lodge. The ice came in early this year, freezing across to Winoga Island in the first week of November. Frigid temperatures continue this week while works starts on a new Pole Building near the end of the Winoga driveway. Things will look a little different next season when you pull in the driveway with a 40-foot x 100-foot structure on the left side. It will be used for dry storage for boats and equipment. Winoga Lodge's 2018 season is in full swing! Guests are flying and boating into outposts, the island is full of happy fishermen and bear hunters are having success in the woods. It's a busy time, but a great time to be at Winoga Lodge. Winoga's Carling Lake outpost got a new dock and woodshed this week. The project was completed over 2 days by a crew of 6. Now we just need the ice to melt!
Winoga guides and and friends have been on the ice keeping track of the hot bites this winter. You could say that they really enjoy tackling big lake trout! Here's a sample of some great catches from this season.
Winter is here and the ice is ready! Winoga offers ice fishing packages in March and early April. Late season ice fishing has many benefits, including longer days, warmer weather and BETTER fishing! Guides will be out all winter scouting and keeping on top of the best bites on the many different lakes.

The island may be put to bed for the winter, but Winoga staff and guests are still having fun in woods and on the water. The fall bear hunt was a huge success. Hunters harvested some really nice bears, including these 2 that pushed beyond the 400 pound mark Shifting gears from Bears to Moose, Winoga guides also went the extra distance to get some really nice moose for the hunters. On the water, fall means one thing - GIANT Muskie!! The big fish are coming in every trip and the season isn't done yet. Muskie guide Ben Beattie has guests booked until November 8th for a true late season giant hunt on Lac Seul. In mid-October Ben shattered the Winoga Lodge record as well as his personal record for biggest guided muskie with a behemoth FIFTY-FIVE INCH Lac Seul super tanker! Check it out, along with some of the other great catches from this fall. It's been a banner year at Winoga for muskie fishing. Lots of fish are hitting the net and some BIG ones too. Here's just a peek at what we're talking about.
