Winter is here and the ice is ready! Winoga offers ice fishing packages in March and early April. Late season ice fishing has many benefits, including longer days, warmer weather and BETTER fishing! Guides will be out all winter scouting and keeping on top of the best bites on the many different lakes.

It has been a busy fall at Winoga Lodge! The island may be put to bed for the winter, but Winoga staff and guests are still having fun in woods and on the water.
The fall bear hunt was a huge success. Hunters harvested some really nice bears, including these 2 that pushed beyond the 400 pound mark
Shifting gears from Bears to Moose, Winoga guides also went the extra distance to get some really nice moose for the hunters.
On the water, fall means one thing - GIANT Muskie!! The big fish are coming in every trip and the season isn't done yet. Muskie guide Ben Beattie has guests booked until November 8th for a true late season giant hunt on Lac Seul.
In mid-October Ben shattered the Winoga Lodge record as well as his personal record for biggest guided muskie with a behemoth FIFTY-FIVE INCH Lac Seul super tanker! Check it out, along with some of the other great catches from this fall.
It's been a banner year at Winoga for muskie fishing. Lots of fish are hitting the net and some BIG ones too. Here's just a peek at what we're talking about.
Troy and Ben tracked down this MONSTER a couple weeks ago and Troy sealed the deal on the biggest muskie so far this season!!
When Troy Mansfield takes guests walleye fishing they can expect a great day on the water. Troy has been guiding walleye more than half of his life and to say he's got it figured out is an understatement. Who else can burn through 25 DOZEN minnows by 3:30 in the afternoon? That's an incredible day right there!
But sometimes even Troy's surprised by his guests accomplishments... take 5 year old Connor Roers for example. While on a family fishing trip at Winoga Lodge, young Connor caught what many would consider a walleye of a lifetime! 30.25 inches - congratulations Connor!
Summer is officially here in Sioux Lookout. After a somewhat cool and wet spring, the warm weather has arrived and fishing has been hot! Our guests and guides have been catching lots of walleye, with 200 fish days topping the list! Trips to Big Vermillion have been putting great numbers of Lake Trout in the boat, too. And the muskie bite is on! It's a great sign when the first muskie of the season is a monster 50-incher!
We're all done with the spring bear hunt now. Happy hunters and happy guides with many nice bears taken. Less than 2.5 months until the fall hunt begins!
When you're in the Outfitting business, a bear problem is a good thing. We pulled trail camera cards and had a lot of activity at our bait sites. Here's a quick preview of some of the bears we caught on camera. Big bears? Check. Color phase bears? You bet! Hunters are out this week and we know they're going to be a happy bunch.
Just because walleye season is closed, doesn't mean Winoga guests and guides aren't out fishing. As they are in the winter, Lake Trout are fun to catch in the springtime too. Jigging, trolling and casting are all in play when lake trout use shallow water early in the season. Pike (on Lac Seul) and Small mouth bass are also open before walleye season. There's always something to catch at Winoga Lodge!
Even though we got an unexpected springtime dumping of snow (18-inches no less!) the bear baiting program is in full swing. Stay tuned for trail camera pics!
The first day we could get a boat to Winoga Island this year was April 23rd.
From April 24- April 28 we got about 18-inches of snow!
Starting this week (May 1) we will be heading to the island to start getting ready for the 2017 season.
Winoga Lodge is Northwestern Ontario's premier outfitter for fishing and hunting.
